Applying digital prints to non-polar and non-absorbent, mineral surfaces always poses challenges for advertisers and sign makers. And when a sustainable and/or PVC-free solution is requested, the options are few and far between ... until now! The solution: the new and more sustainable digital printing film LoopPET UltraTack ASLAN DRP 07.

This gloss white digital print film has at least 30 % recycled polyester. It was specifically developed for PVC free, short to medium-term advertising campaigns and signage on low-energy and other difficult-to-apply surfaces such as aluminium or zinc, as well as non-absorbent, mineral substrates such as tiles, glazed ceramics, granite and marble. Designed for more sustainable indoor and outdoor applications on flat surfaces, the LoopPET UltraTack ASLAN DRP 07 is equipped with a highly transparent, solvent-free, high-tack particularly strong that adheres reliably to difficult and non-polar substrates.

LoopPET UltraTack ASLAN DRP 07 joins the ever-growing product range of more sustainable self-adhesive films from ASLAN. It is PVC-free, made from recycled raw materials and produced with a specially designed water-based adhesive.

Dirt and damage caused by graffiti in public spaces is annoying and costly, requiring intensive cleaning. As a solution to this issue, ASLAN has been successfully supplying the AntiGraffiti ASLAN SL 95 protective laminate for years. Now ASLAN‘s portfolio of laminates is being expanded to include a new product that provides safer and more sustainable protection against graffiti:

LoopPET AntiGraffiti ASLAN SRL 96 is the more sustainable way to protect against graffiti. This self-adhesive, highly transparent, 50 µm gloss laminate, is made from 70% recycled polyester (PCR-PET) and is specifically for the protection of printed media. Due to its special surface coating, the scratch-resistant laminate offers reliable protection against spray paint and contamination from permanent markers. Therefore, graffiti can be easily removed residue free. Aggressive anti-graffiti cleaners can also be used regularly without damaging the surface.

When things get a little wild …

A monster seldom comes alone! Now available is MonsterLAM ASLAN SL 05 , an extra durable 300µm protective overlaminate that protects digital prints under the toughest conditions – even UV prints. In the monstrous combination with the digitally printable MonsterTack ASLAN DFP 05 film, a solvent and lubricating oil-resistant composite, this combination can withstand even the toughest requirements, such as use on motocross or heavy-duty machines.

MonsterLAM ASLAN SL 05 is the ideal blend of thick protective film with high transparency, allowing for exceptional clarity of colour digital prints. Even printed metal and other special effect films show through as clear as a bell. The laminate is suitable for application on to flat and slightly curved surfaces, protecting them from stone chips and mechanical abrasion. However, we don't know yet whether it also protects against monsters!

high gloss is not enough for you? Then get to know our new, ultra-glossy protective laminate GalleryLAM ASLAN SL 98 now – a 125 µm thick PET film that combines functionality and aesthetics, giving digital prints an elegant finish as well as robust protection. The film is now available from stock.

Due to an ultra-glossy special surface coating, this PET laminate transforms prints and photographs into works of art. With intense contrasts of colour and light, they appear like a gallery print set behind glass. Its easy-to-clean property ensures that dirt and fingerprints can be easily removed. This film is also characterised by its resistance to many common household chemicals, cleaning agents, solvents and food. And if that wasn’t enough, it is insensitive to heat and grease splashes, and is therefore ideal for uses such as kitchen splashbacks.

Compared to our classic Clearboard ASLAN CB 90, it has an even better scratch-resistance and the same perfect wipeability as the original laminate, where even permanent markers don‘t leave the ghost writing effect. Being an environmentally conscious product, we only use water-based adhesives and the film is suitable for laminating on to UV prints.

The year has a velvety start – with the new CaressColour ASLAN CC 124, a flocked, self-adhesive decorative film in 15 colours. This visually stunning film with its plush, tactile feel can be used for full surface coverage or plotter cut graphics.

The flock films are ideally suited to smooth, flat surfaces indoors. However, under certain conditions, short to medium-term outdoor use for seasonal advertising and promotion is also possible. The wide selection of 15 colours in the standard range, is supplemented by a further 16 colours which are available on request for an MOQ of 500 linear metres.

A special feature: We supply the product with a transparent film on the surface. With the MonsterTack ASLAN DFP 05, you will soon have a film available for a multitude of demanding applications that will provide a rigorous, secure hold. This high-quality self-adhesive film offers a striking, extremely high-gloss mirror effect. Applied to a flat surface, the film acts like a mirror, providing crystal clear reflections and making rooms appear bigger and brighter. The film surface is highly scratch-resistant, making sure the brilliant mirror effect is retained in the long term. A special feature of this polyester film is that the mirror effect is identical on both sides, providing stunning double-sided reflections on transparent surfaces.

The products from the ASLAN ReApply series are ASLAN functional films that are equipped with a revolutionary adhesive system and can be easily applied to smooth surfaces.  The top of the ReApply is a combination of different variations of the well-known ASLAN memo board films.

After use the ASLAN ReApply can be rolled up, stored away and used again when required.

The face film of the ReApply FerroBlackboard ASLAN RA 640 is equipped with the combination of a magnetic iron foil and an easy-to-clean chalkboard foil. For example, glass and kitchen surfaces, doors, tiles, etc. can be transformed into memoboards in no time at all. Additionally, using chalk and liquid chalk pens, it is guaranteed to clean easily without the ghosting effect of former writing. When it is no longer needed simply remove it, roll it up and store it away for later use. If ReApply does not adhere well to the surface, such as matt and slightly textured surfaces, this can be increased by lightly spraying the back of the film with water.

The protection film MagicProtect MATT ASLAN SL 99 has been developed to protect digital printing films and other surfaces against vandalism, graffiti and dirt. Spray paint and dirt slides off the matt surface of this self-adhesive film like water of a lotus Leaf.

The 80 µm polymeric, softened PVC film can be applied on smooth and curve surfaces.
When used as a laminate in combination with a digital print, this film can also be applied to rough surfaces, with the use of a heat gun, to excellent effect.
As spray paint will not adhere to the film‘s surface, vandals will be put off immediately from causing any further damage.
Any residue paint and dirt can easily be cleaned off the surface.

Surfaces that are often damaged by graffiti in areas open to the general public, can be protected with MagicProtect Matt ASLAN SL 99, whether as a laminate for a digital print or on its own. This film has an outdoor durability of three years.

Holographic ASLAN SE 72 is a silver self-adhesive film with an outstanding holographic effect. It’s a 50 µm thick PET-film and shimmers in the colours of the rainbow. The special features of the product include the double-sided effect and the fact that it comes seamless, i.e. without any visible transition of the effect, as is usually the case with such materials. This saves time and material when printing and cutting the product. The film is equipped with a water-based special adhesive from ASLAN and lasts up to 3 years outdoors. The material can be printed with Latex- and UV-curable inks. Holographic ASLAN SE 72 can be applied on smooth, even surfaces and is perfect for use in shop and trade fair construction as well as for visual merchandising. The product is available in the dimensions 1.01 x 25 m.

6 | 21 – ASLAN is expanding its range of environmentally-friendly and PVC free products for the sign making and digitally printing industry with two real highlights:
Digital printing film and protective laminate made from recycled polyester
LoopPET ASLAN DRL 19 is a white film for large format digital printing. It is made using 30% recycled polyester and heralds a series of products that are more than just PVC free, leaving a smaller carbon footprint. ASLAN's renowned Dryapply adhesive technology makes it easy to apply the film without bubbles and has excellent removability. The material can be printed using latex and UV curable inks.

The LoopLAM ASLAN SRL 19 laminate is the perfect match to protect the print. The content of recycled polyester of this highly clear film is 70%. Even though the product is designed as a protective laminate (liner/adhesive), it is possible to print it with UV curable and latex inks.

Both self-adhesive films are equipped with ASLAN's special and reliable water-based adhesives – thus the films contain not only recycled raw material, but are also free of solvents, PVC and VOCs.

Use of recycled raw materials for manufacturing
Worldwide the sign making and large format market is undergoing a strong rethinking process towards more environmentally friendly products. While a complete recycling is currently not an option, ASLAN has approached the matter differently. "We used raw materials which contain recycled components as a base for the new films." explains Dr. Petra Tschöpe, R&D manager of the manufacturer of high-quality self-adhesive speciality products.

The recycled polyester used is post-consumer recycled (PCR), for example old PET bottles which are sorted by colour and then shredded into small flakes according to material. These flakes are then mixed with new PET granules in varying proportions (70% for transparent, 30% for white) and then extruded to form new films. This creates an environmentally-friendly, forward-thinking composite of recycled raw materials for digital printing. White products are limited in the proportion of recycled contents in order to maintain the desired degree of whiteness. 

The 50 µm (1.9 mil) thick ASLAN films can be applied to smooth, flat surfaces. The self-adhesive films are ideal for use in shop fitting, trade show booths, visual merchandising and wherever value is placed on products that are a real greener alternative. Both products can be used indoors and outdoors and are available in the dimensions 1.37 x 50 m (53” x 50 yds).

04/18 | ASLAN, the German manufacturer of self-adhesive films for special applications, now offers a new protective laminate available in two different widths. The laminate has been specially developed for rollup and popup systems and has been optimised for the required widths.

The benefits of the matt EcoSoftTouch ASLAN SL 109 include its extremely brilliant colour reproduction of a printed product after finishing, as well as its scratch resistance. In addition, its velvety touch results in a true look & feel product. Whereas with today’s applications, matt protective laminates tend to swallow up a part of the colour gamut, EcoSoftTouch ASLAN SL 109 has the opposite effect. Colours appear brighter and shinier following treatment with this product.

03/18 | ASLAN, German manufacturer of self-adhesive films for special applications, provides a new transparent digital printing film with ultra-strong adhesion. The self-adhesive film UltraTack transparent ASLAN DFP 06, especially designed for long-term applications, is now available for all applications requiring a transparent film.

Among all the advantages ranks especially the reliable adhesion on difficult surfaces including low-energy materials (i.e. plastic dustbins) but also on rough, uneven or cold surfaces. The digital printing films of the UltraTack range perform even well in application temperatures starting from 5°C (41°F).
